Snook Fishing Tips
Snook Fishing Tips
To be able to understand snook fishing tips, you must first understand the tendencies of the snook fish.
Snook, by their very nature, are ambush predators. They would rather have a baitfish swim right in front of their face than to actively pursue them. Common baitfish that are relatively easy- pickings for the snook are sometimes passed up if the distance is too-far to navigate. Snook like to position themselves in such a way as to remain unseen until it is too late for the baitfish. This allows the snook to grab a meal without expending too much energy. Depending on the direction of the tidal flow, you may find them hiding behind a sunken tree branch, log or mangrove root, waiting for an unsuspecting baitfish to swim right in front of them.
Knowing this fact, you can sometimes visually locate a possible snook hiding place by scoping out the area. Look for an inlet or a flats area that has some submerged trees or mangrove roots. Pay attention to the direction of the tide and look for an obstruction that may be a good spot for a pouncing snook. Toss a lure or a live baitfish in front of the obstruction and allow the tide to carry it through. You will know very quickly if you made the right choice and get ready for some exciting action. If you get nothing, try a few more times and then move on. As far as snook fishing tips, this is a winner.
